BOXING.

HARRY HOLMES V. CYCLONE JARVIS. TO MEET FRIDAY EVENING. The 15 rounds professional match between the clever Australian featherweights, Harry Holmes (New South Wales) and Cyclone Jarvis, of Adelaide, which is to be decided under the auspices of the Northern Boxing Association at the Town Hall, Auckland, on Friday evening next (June 4), is arousing keen interest in boxing circles. Holmes made a good impression during an exhibition spar prior to the Lloyd-Clabby match, while he gave evidence of his capabilities in a series of bouts with boxers from H.M.S. Renown during that warship’s visit to Auckland, and his match with Cyclone Jarvis, a quick and clever exponent of the art, is expected to prove an attraction well worth seeing. In addition to the professional match a number of interesting bouts between the leading amateurs are promised.
