HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.

“THE LUCK OF THE NAVY.” The great naval drama, “The Luck of the Navy,” which is now being presented for the first time in the Dominion, will be staged at His Majesty’s Theatre, Auckland, by the Allan Wilkie Dramatic Company on Tuesday, May 4. It is reported that this play, which deals with a new aspect of the Hun spy peril, is one of the most exciting imaginable. A commander of a British submarine finds himself entrapped by. a party of German spies while he is the guest of a society hostess in England. In the last act there is an attempt to take the British commander a prisoner to Germany by aeroplane. There is a flashing of searchlights, the drone of the aeroplane, and the enthusiasm of the audience is worked up to the highest pitch. Mr. Allan Wilkie will assume the role of the heroic British commander, and Miss Frediswyde Hunter-Watts as his fiancee. This great naval drama recently completed a phenomenal run of two years in London. The play possesses those attributes that make for popularity, the plot being interesting, the climax thrilling, the dialogue crisp, and there is a sprinkling of clean spontaneous humour, which relieves the more dramatic phases of the piece.
