The Riverton Racing Club’s annual meeting was opened in beautiful weather, and the large attendance included visitors from various parts of Southland The racing was of a highly enjoyable character, while speculation was brisk on the totalisator, the sum of £27 102 being handled during the ■afternoon, as compared with £13,702 on the opening day last year. The totalisator returns for the day amounted to £28,506 10s., as compared with £11,861 for the corresponding day last year, making a total of. £55,608 10s. for the two days, as compared, with £25,561 for the 1919. gathering, an increase of £30,047.
