SALE OF BLOODSTOCK IN THE WAIKATO.
The sale of bloodstock the property of Mr. Charlton Dawson, of Cambridge, to take place on Wednesday, March 24, at Cambridge by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., is announced in our advertising columns, that owner having sold his property there with the intention of leaving New Zealand for a term. There are no fewer than ten mares in the stud to be disposed of, and five of the number have been stinted by Day Comet and two by Archiestown (imp.), while there are three dry mares, a three-year-old, three two-year-olds, , three yearlings and two foals in the lot. .Amongst the mares are such well-known racecourse favfrom Miss Winsome and Miss Winsome, Lady Winsome, Miss Jack, Sphinx, Carmania, White Sox, and a mare by King Rufus. The three-year-old gelding is -by Marble Arch from Kakama, one of the two-year-old fillies by Robert the Bruce from the same mare, the other by King Soult from Sphinx, and the two-year-oicl gelding is by Quin Abbey from the Bluejacket—Victoria mare, who is
also to be sold. One of the yearlings is by Elysian from Sphinx, and the other two are by Robert the Bruce from Miss Jack respectively while Comet and Winsome and Quin Abbey and Sphinx are represented by foals. The mares and sires referred to are all well-known throughout the province, and represent the best of material from good proved racing strains which continue to assert themselves. The sale should attract much attention from racing men and breeders.
