Phil Green, who has a good team of trotters under his charge, contemplates taking two or three horses to Auckland for the meeting next month (writes our Wanganui correspondent). If the trip eventuates, Mr. A. Coe’s Rio Grande, which trotted consistently well at the recent Wanganui meeting, will be one of the team. Green has Lady Sefton and Rio Grande engaged at the Hukanui meeting. Lady Sefton is one of the best trotters in the stable, but so far has been very unlucky when the colours have been up. The Wanganui Trotting Club has decided not to reopen the Greta case. It will be remembered that some backers of Greta in the Liverpool Handicap on the second day of the recent meeting claimed that they were entitled to a second dividend, though it was only a five-horse field, owing to the club having announced in its race book that in all events in which five or more norses the property of different owner shall start, dividends would be paid ont the first and second horses. Prior to the start of the race the totalisator officials were informed that a second dividend could not be paid in a five-horse field, and a notice to that effect was posted. The first dividend was paid in full, and it would cost the club something like £550 if they had to pay out the second dividend also.
At the disposal sale of Mr. W. Kerr’s trotting stock on Monday the principal sales were: Three-year-old colt by Wildwood Junr. —Gertie, 250 gns.; three-year-old gelding by Wildwood Junr.—Lady Don, 200gns.; two-year-old colt by Logan PointerThelma, 160gns.; two-year-old colt bv Wildwood Junr. — Wattle, ‘ 215gns.’; two-year-old gelding by Wildwood Junr.—lmperialism, 160gns.; yearling colt by Logan Pointer —Thelma, 250 gns.
