At a sale of racehorses in Melbourne on January 13, the ex-New Zealander Sauci, by Charlemagne 11. —Hope Diamond, was passed in at 250 guineas. At the same .sale, Escomb (imp.) was purchased by Mr. J. E. Brewer for 470 guineas.
The general opinion is that Red Ribbon was just a bit unlucky to miss the Wellington Cup and thus fail to score as her dam, Blue Ribbon, did ten years before.
