The final of the Hope Lewis Rose Bowl competition was played on June 7 between Miss M. Payton and Miss S. Henderson, when the former won, 4 up and 3 to play. :Js Maungakiekie. The following were the best cards sent in for the medal handicap match played on Wednesday, June 5, by the Maungakiekie Ladies’ Golf Club: Miss Wright, gross score 103, handicap 25, net score 78; Miss B. McGovern, 111 —29 —82; Miss Crowther, 100 —17—83; Miss McGowan, 119—36— 83. The inter-club match between teams representing Maungakiekie and the Auckland Ladies’ Golf Club, played at Middlemore, resulted in a win for the Auckland Club. Frater, 4 and 3; Miss Moginie lost to Miss E. Culling, 5 and 4; Miss Wilson and Miss May Cameron were all square; Mrs. Saxby beat Miss M. Macl’arlane, 3 and 2; Mrs. Rogers lost to Miss G. Buddle, 2 up; Mrs. Stewart and Miss M. Buckleton, all square. « * * * Wanganui. The ladies of the Wanganui Club have again undertaken the management of afternoon tea on match afternoons, and are adding the profits thus made to their contributions to the N.Z.L.G.U. Red Cross Fund. # Manawatu. The monthly medal match resulted as follows: —A Grade: Mrs. L. A. Abraham, 115 —21 —94; Miss Tingey, 118 —17 —101; Miss G. Moore, 113 — 10 —103. B Grade: Mrs. Collinson, 120 —40—80; Miss Blackmore, 125 — 39—86; Miss Baldwin, 138—40—98. Junior: Miss Batchelar. 123 —26 —97. * * * * Red Cross Medals. These are now ready for distribution to clubs that have intimated their intention of playing for them and will be sent out immediately. The English Ladies Golf Union handicap medals have not yet come to hand; they will be forwarded as soon as they are received.
Ladies’ Golf Union. The annual meeting of the English Golf Union, to which the New Zealand Golf Union is affiliated, was held on -March 4. The business was purely formal, the only new rule passed being one in regard to subscriptions that affects English clubs only. It was definitely stated that the English Year Book would not be printed during the continuance of the war.
