WELLINGTON, March 18.

The Easter attraction for the Grand Opera House will be the J. C. Williamson Royal Comic Opera Company, which will be headed by Miss Florence Young as prima donna and Mr. Phil Smith as principal comedian. It was originally intended to open with “Oh, Oh! Delphine,” but now it has been decided that the opening production will be the musical comedy “The Red Widow.” Mr. Charles Berkeley will act as touring manager for the tour, whilst Mr. John Farrell will fulfil the duties of business manager.

The following are the dates booked for the Dominion tour of the J. C. Williamson Royal Comic Opera Company:—Wellington, March 30th to April 13th; Christchurch, April 16th to the 22nd; Dunedin, April 24th to

the 29th; Timaru, April 30th; Hawera, May 2nd; Wanganui May 3rd and 4th; Palmerston, May 6th; Hastings, May 7th; Napier, May Sth and 9th; Gisborne, May 11th to the 14th; Auckland, May 16th to the 25th. The first concert of the Wellington Professional Orchestra for the ensuing season will be given on April 14th in His Majesty’s Theatre. Miss Eileen Dennehy, the wellknown pianist, who has just completed a tour of the Dominion with one of the J. C. Williamson attractions, is now acting as pianist at Everybody’s Theatre. The annual meeting of Jupp’s Brass Band (now known as the Wellington Patriotic Society’s Band) was held in the bandroom on Monday evening, the 4th inst., Mr. W. Jupp presiding. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — Pation, the Right Hon. Sir J. Ward; president, Mr. J. Mclntosh; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. C. C. Odlin, J. Hislop, J. Castle, G. Frost, Wallace and Beck; secretary, Mr. W. Lang; treasurer, Mr. W. Jupp, sen In recognition of eighteen years’ service as members of the band, Messrs. Frank and George Perriott were presented with a gold ring each by Mr. Jupp. It is worthy of mention that Mr. W. Jupp has attained his 30th year of service as a member of the band. The Fisk Jubilee Singers will open a season in Wellington on Saturday, April 20th.
