AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB.

AUTUMN MEETING.

Splendid nominations were received by the secretary (Mr. H. H. Hayr) on Friday evening last for the Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, which is to take place on Saturday, April 6. Included in the nominations are a number of well-known performers from the south, and their presence at the meeting will lend additional interest to what promises to be a highly successful one-dav gathering. The principal event is the Avondale Handicap (one mile and a-quarter), in which no less than 27 horses are engaged. The Railway Handicap (six furlongs) has also attracted a record field, 35 sprinters having been accorded a nomination. The Juvenile Apprentice Handicap (for two-year-olds, and the Chevalier Steeplechase have both filled well, and keen interest will be taken in their decision. The two hack events have met with a popular response, 32 being engaged in the Maiden Plate (six furlongs) and 38 in the Mt. Roskill Handicap (one mile

and a furlong). The Titirarigi Welter has also attracted a representative entry, so that, taken altogether, the nominations have fulfilled the most sanguine expectations.
