THE SCENE OF MANY TERRIBLE CONFLICTS BETWEEN THE FRENCH AND GERMANS IN DEAD MAN’S LAND. The German positions on Hill 304, Talou Hill'and Mort Homme were considered the Huns’ most formidable fortifications, but the latter were deluged with heavy shells from the French artillery, being practically demolished, the Huns finding their quarters untenable. A brilliantly executed infantry attack added further confusion to the Hun forces, who eventually yielded up the positions.
