WAIMATE PLAINS TROTTING CLUB.

FOURTH ANNUAL MEETING. The Waimate Plains Trotting Club has made rapid strides since its inception several years ago, and the fourth annual meeting, which is to be held on the Hawera racecourse on Easter Monday (April 1), promises to eclipse all former gatherings held by this progressive club. An attractive programme, particulars of which appear elsewhere in this issue, has been drawn up, the principal event being the Waimate Plains Cup (harness), of 26550v5., two miles. Four other harness events, including the Taranaki Futurity Stakes, are to be decided at the approaching fixture, while two races are set apart for saddle horses. Nominations for all events, accompan’ed by fees, close with the secretary, Mr. G. A. Holder, Box 157 Hawera, on Friday, March 8, at 9 p.m.

Trot sing owners and trainers should make a special note of the fact that entries for the Taranaki Futurity Stakes (Harness), 1920, of 150 sovs , iy 2 miles, to be decided at the Waimate Plains Trotting Club’s Annual Meeting on Easter Monday, 1920, will close with the secretary, Mr. G. A. Holder, P.O. Box 157, Hawera, on Friday, March 8. 1918, at 9 pm. This event, which is for three-year-olds at the time of starting, should meet with a good response from present owners of yearlings, and the conditions of the race, which are given in an announcement appearing elsewhere in this issue, will be read with interest by all associated with the breeding and racing of trotters.

The Wanganui Trotting Club is likely to score a big success with its meeting on Friday (writes our Wanganui correspondent. The acceptances received are very good, and there is every prospect of the day’s sport being of a very interesting description. There are a number of good horses engaged, and the various events should provide some excellent sport.
