HAMILTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The Hamilton R..C. Annual Meeting, held on Saturday, was in every way worthy of such an important centre. The club launched out, making it the most attractive one day fixture in the -Auckland province. Owners patronised it as freely as they could, and there was a large muster of horses from racing headquarters at Ellerslie, and they secured the largest number of events, though the Cup went to the Waikato owner, trainer and breeder, Mr. R. Hannon, whose luck seems to be dead in just now in annexing Cups, and whose pretty little mare Tinopai carried a 141 b. penalty for winning the Cup at Te Kuiti, paid the best dividend of the meeting, none of which were large, as first and second favourites, and well supported ones, were winning all along the line. Te Kuiti form was well reproduced. Speculation ran to £27,406 on the eight events, a record for the course, winch was just a little holding in one or two places, and though nice to gallop on, a bit on the slow side as compared with previous occasions. The starting of Mr. C. O’Connor, who had Mr. A. Vincent assisting, left nothing wanting. Judge Lusk had an easy time, though the racing was good and satisfying to the weight adjuster, Mr. McManemin. There were no enquiries to occupy the time of the stewards. The want of more room : in the region oi the totalisator was experienced as on former occasions. The secretary, Mr. R. J. Gwynne, must have been highly pleased with the all-round results, as indeed were the executive members of the club. The success of the consistent Blue Cross in the Trial Handicap was well deserved. The Marble Arch —Maheno representative has run many good races in the past. Carmen Sylva, by Randolph, ran up to track form by getting second, and paid a fine price. Stilts, at the weight, looked to have a -good chance of success in the Claudelands Handicap, and galloping freely in the hands of H. Gray he beat Cardrona nicely, the consistent Waiuta getting third. In the Tamahere Stakes, for two and three-year-olds, Gold Kip, who only last month showed winning form, was able to concede Canzonet, the best of his younger rivals, 151bs. and a beating, Woody Glen, a three-ycar-old, getting third. The Hamilton Cup was sorted out in favour of Colonel Soult and Sir Ralph, but the first-named, who drew ouside place, and who was started from that pc sition, did not run up to the track form he had shown two days previously, and which caused the hopes of his friends to be revived.;? On the other hand, Sir Ralph gaver&bf his best, as he invariably does, and finished second to Tinopai, who is racing now with much freedom and right up to her best form. Gold Fran had a moderate lot to head in the Waimai Hack Hurdles as things turned out, and easily settled the Advance gelding Prosper, who should win a race in the winter. He should do well over country, The race between the Marble Arch pair, Loyal Arch and British Arch, for the Kafamu Welter, was a satisfactory one, and gave Dennis Moraghan a turn which was long due with Loyal Arch, who, it is hoped, may score again ere long, as she mupt have cost some money to keep going since she won last. Garry Owen again confirmed previous form, and J. Williamson’s luck with this and other members of his team . continues good. He beat Caballero and a fair field in good style. Cardrona, who has been racing well of late, won the

Mr. G. L. Stead has no reason to regret 1 having patronised the Taranaki and Egmont meetings, as he got a fair amount of stake money with his horses.
