ROTORUA JOCKEY CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The Rotorua Jockey Club’s annual meeting is now near at hand, February 27 being the date on which this popular race gathering is to be held in the thermal district. Owners and trainers should note that nominations for all events except the Selling Plate close with the secretary, Mr. K. J. Rennie, Box 5, Rotorua, or with Mr. H. H. Hayr, Auckland, on Friday evening next at 9 p.m. The club have for the past few months been energetically at work on the track and appointments, and everything is now in first-class order. The treatment their racing track at Arawa Park racecourse has received during the past twelve months has had surprising results, and the turf is now all that could be desired. The free stabling and straw provided by the club is generally considered the best obtainable in the Dominion. Over fifty comfortable, spacious and well-lighted and ventilated loose-boxes have been engaged at the R.M. Coaching Co.’s up-to-date establishment. The club further show consideration for the owner by paying railage one way, from Morrinsville Junction, to counteract the effect of the abolition of concessions given by the Railway Department in pre-war times. The entrance fees have been fixed at a minimum, so every inducement is held out to owners, who may be relied upon to respond in generous fashion on Friday evening next.
