TAUMABUNUI RACING CLUB.
annual meeting. GLENOPAL WINS CUP. The Taumarunui Racing- Club held their annual meeting on Saturday in fine though not altogether pleasant weather. a strong gale being in evidence, the dust raised therefrom constituting a source of nuisance to the club’s patrons. The attendance, which included a fair number of visitors from Auckland, was well up to expectations, and some good racing was witnessed. Mr. J. McMahon, chief stipendiary steward, was present, and during the afternoon a number of cases of . careless _ riding and interference were inquired into, a warning being deemed sufficient in each instance. R. Preston, rider of Pre-emin-ent in the Owhango Handicap, was severely cautioned for crossing, while interference was the complaint laid against J. O’Shea, H. Young and R. Reed, each of whom escaped with a caution. The sum of £11,622 10s. was handled on the totalisator, as against £9615 10s. for last year’s gathering, an increase of £2007. Glenopal assumed command before entering the straight and though challenged in the run to the post by Gold Fran, the Takapuna Cup winner had no difficulty in winning by half a length. Analogue, who was prominent throughout, was a length away third, while
