MASTERTON RACING CLUB. SPRING MEETING. The attention of racing enthusiasts in all parts of the Dominion is focussed this week upon the Masterton Racing Club’s spring meeting, which opens to-day (Thursday) at Opaki and will be concluded the following day. The fact of a number of New Zealand Cup candidates figuring among the acceptors for the first day’s events has in- \ ested the fixture with the greatest interest, the Masterton Cup (one mile and a-quarter), in which Multifual, Egypt, Client, Teka, Multiply, Cleft, Trials, Orleans, Mascot and Midnight Star are engaged, being regarded as certain to throw some light on the probabilities of the big race at Riccarton next month. The acceptances throughout the various events are of a most gratifying nature, and leave no doubt as to the capable manner in which Mr. Jack L. Henrys has summed up the merits of the respective candidates. A large gathering of racegoers is assured at Opaki on both days of the fixture, and the meeting should create a fresh record in the annals of this enterprising racing club.
