GISBORNE RACING CLUB.

SUMMER MEETING. The Gisborne Racing Club are making active preparations in connection with their summer meeting, which is to be held on the club’s racecourse, Te Hapara, on Thursday and Saturday, February 1 and 3, and there is every reason to anticipate the gathering proving an cven greater success .han in previous years, despite the existing war conditions. The Gisborne Cup Handicap, of 400sovs. (375sovs. in specie and a Cup value 25sovs. presented by Mr. J. R. Murphy, a steward of the club), 1% miles, will come up for decision on the first day, and a splendid nomination may be looked for in the case of this liberally endowed event. The Gisbore Racing Club Handicap, of 250sovs., one mile, to be run on the second day, is also certain to attract a pleasing entry, and will give the unsuccessful Cup candidates a further opportunity to earn a valuable stake. The other events are all worth lOOsovs. each and ozer, so that there is strong inducement for owners and trainers to pay Gisborne a visit witn their charges. The meeting is extremely popular with Auckland owners, who should again help swell the nominat ons, which are due for all events with the secretary, Mr. H. E. Dodd, on Friday, January 12.
