ALLEN DOONE.
Mr. Allen Doone and his company will commence their season of romantic Irish drama on Saturday night next in His Majesty’s Theatre, Auckland, with “O’Leary, V.C.” Mr. Doone is an actor, a singer and a composer, and he has won success in all capacities in America, Australia and New Zealand. His plays all have a true, honest ring in them, and none of them have yet proved a failure. He has associated with him Miss Edna Keeley, who is a quaint, dainty little performer, and wins her way into the hearts of the audiences. The rest of the company are all well known and experienced actresses and actors. “O’Leary, V.C.,” which is to be Mr. Doone’s initial production here, is full of stirring scenes, touching love episodes, quaint and pretty songs. Most of the songs that Mr. Doone sings are written and composed by himself. Keen interest has been excited by the announcement of the production of “O’Leary, V.C.,” on Saturday night next, and the plan is rapidly filling. Wherever the piece is staged the audience are held spellbound by the powerful scenes and intense situations. Mr. Doone’s visit will recall to memory many triumphs achieved by him on his previous visits to Auckland. The box plan is on view at Wildman and Arey’s.
