Dr. W. Young, of Wellington, who has been surgeon specialist in the Military Hospital at M? 1 a, is expected back in New Zealand about the middle cf this month.

Dr. Van Twist, Government Health Officer at Colombo, and Mrs. Van Twist are visiting New Zealand.

Mr. P. Hannan, the welknown sculler, has been admitted to the Blenhe m Hospital- in order to undergo an operation to his leg, on account of an injury which resulted from his match with Webb, for the championship of New Zealand , some months ago.

A message from London states that Sir Douglas Mawson has been gazetted Embarkation Staff Officer, with the rank of captain. He will be stationed at Liverpool.

Mr. W. F. Trembath. the well-known Gore runner and half-mile ex-cham

pion of the Dominion, is at present in camp with the 19th Reinforcements.
