DEATH OF BRITAIN’S MOST DISTINGUISHED SOLDIER, EARL KITCHENER, SECRETARY OF STATE OF WAR.
The sinking of the armoured cruiser Hampshire, on which Earl Kitchener, portion of his staff and two members of the Munitions Committee were travelling to Russia, either by a mine or torpe caused a sensation through the English-speaking world, particularly when it became definitely known that Kitchener was among the 655 officers and men who were drowned. Amazement and so everywhere, while memorial services were held on Sunday last at all the churches throughout the British Empire.
