LADIES’ GOLF.
Maungakiekie. A flag match which was played at the Maungakiekie links last week was won by Miss Mavis Scott, who carried the flag to the first green. There were a large number of payers, and 345. was handed over to the Belgian Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. Nelson. The senior and juu.or medal matches and the first round of the Encounter Shield were played off at the Tahuna links on Friday, May 12th. The senior medal match was won by Miss Ethel Ledger, and the junior by Mrs. Sainsbury, the Encounter Shield by Mrs. Sainsbury, and the most successful p.ayer in the Red Cross bogey match was Miss E. Ledger. Wanganui. The Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club opened its season on Wednesday, May 10th, with a Red Cross match, for which each member pays an entrance lee of one shill.ng. By this means nearly £lB was collected last season, Wanganui College coming very near the top of the list of New Zealand golf clubs. Christchurch. The Christchurch Ladies’ Golf Club played a Red Cross be gey match on Thursday, May 11th, the winner being Mrs. Borthwick. Others playing were Mrs. Wigram, Mrs. Vernon, Mrs. Godby, Mrs. R. Symes, Mrs. Bristed, Miss P. Anderson, Miss Wilkin, and Miss Newton.
