NEW ZEALAND’S FIRST V.C.—CORPORAL BASSETT, of Auckland, New Zealand Engineers, wearing the Victoria Cross decoration, which he recently was decorated with by the King in recognition of his conspicuous bravery at Gallipoli. Corporal Bassett is the first New Zealander to receive the Victoria Cross.
