ELLERSLIE TRACK NOTES.
Mr. P. Bolton, of Greenlane, lias the two half brothers, Barbwire (Gluten Chiara) and the four-year-old by Marble Arch —Chiara, in work at Ellerslie. The latter has won a race or two when trained by P. Johnston, and is a good sort of a gelding showing pace. Mr W. H. Dawson has the last of the Soults likely to race —a half sister to Cordite, out of Lyddite, and a mare of commanding stature, showing plenty of Quality. She was to have been sent to Sydney with Cordite, but the lattei split his hoof and had to be spelled. Master Regel, although taken to Te Aroha was not started at the §at !. 1 1 ® <■ ing. Before leaving Ellerslie he must have jarred his shoulder and his trainei deemed it best to give the Res ® l ing a few weeks’ spell before the autumn campaign. Another Regel gelding that has improved out of all recognition is Onga, winner of the Great Northern and Remuera Hurdles. The horse 1% mnv feeding well, and is doing good woik, ami looking big and full of muscle. When R. Hannon arrived at Te Aroha with his team of racers J ie G not seen the rehandicaps. Mill o Gov He had 8 2 in the Trial Handicap. Tinopai was raised to 9.7 in the Cup and 9.0 in the Flying Handicap, while Mill o’ Gowrie had 8.5 in the Ha Race The pen was promptly brought into use, the only horse started on.the opening day being Glenopal m the Waitoa Welter. During the week arrangements will be made by Mr George W W brin°- his two horses, Lady Lobelia ana Waimai to Ellerslie to train. ' At no time in the history of the Te Aroha Jockey Club’s meeting were there so many Ellerslie-tramed horses at this favourite fixture as was the case on the opening day, when no less than 3 Ellerslie candidates faced the bamer out of 78 starters.
