PROMISING YOUNG CRICKETER.

“SIS” DACRE’S CENTURIES.

“Sis” Dacre, of Devonport, whose portrait appears herewith, has been responsible tor a remarkable batting average in senior cr.cket during the past couple of seasons, and his many meritorious d.splays single him out for special mention as one of the most promising young cricketers the Dominion has ever known. At school his skilful wielding of the bat invariably proved the feature of the matches in which the Devonport Public School was engaged, and attracted tuch wide attention that it was decided to test the young batsman in senior cricket. He was selected as a member of the North Shore first eleven to take part in the Auckland Cricket Association’s senior champ.onship, and his many sterling performances since his promotion into the ranks of senior cricket fully bore out the most sanguine expectations. His record for the season 1914-15 is an attractive one, and, briefly, is as follows: —37 innings, 12 centuries, 10 times not out; aggregate of 2372 runs scored in playing for Devonport Public School (wh-ch won the Cup), North Shore first eleven, and other matches played on Wednesday afternoons. Average of 87.23 for 27 completed innings—140 not out, 143, 108 not out, 140 not out, 114 not out, 105 not out, 107 not out, 139 not out, 107 not out, 51 not out, 196 not out, 188, 172, 65, 57, 37, 82, 37, 30, 62, *2, 57, 82, 47, thirteen other scores of 1 to 15, and two “blobs” only.
