TE KUITI RACING CLUB.

MEETING TAKES PLACE ON

SATURDAY.

Great interest is being taken in sport’ng circles in the Te Kuiti Racing Club’s annual meeting, which is to be held at Te Kuiti on Saturday next, February 12. A special train is advertised to leave Auckland for Te Kuiti on Saturday morning at 6.45 a.m., and will return after the races, so that a large number of racing enthusiasts will assuredly avail themselves of this opportunity for an excellent day’s outing. The Te Kuiti Racing Club, under the capable supervision of the energetic secretary, Mr. J. H. Trinnear, have everything in readiness for the gathering, and there is every indication that Saturday will see a fresh record established in the annals of this go-ahead racing institution. The catering arrangements will be in the hands of Mr. John Sinclair, whose efforts have always earned deserved appreciation from racegoers. Principal interest is centred in the Te Kuiti Cup, one mile and a-quarter, for which nine horses have been accepted. The Wa’kato owner-trainer R. Hannon has two representatives engaged, Tinopai and Tinoreka, and should he elect to start the pair they may be relied upon to carry the bulk of the investments. Tinoreka, who won a double at the recent Takapuna meeting in attractive style, has shown a tendency to stay in her engagements over longer distances than that in which she scored her latest brace of victories, so that in the event of her foregoing her engagement in the Ma ; den Handicap (seven furlongs) and starting in the Cup on Saturday she will not want for friends. Selection and Marble Star are also both likely to be well supported, but it will cause no surprise to see victory go to an inmate of R. Hannon’s stable. The acceptances will be found elsewhere in this issue, and the strong

fields engaged will doubtless afford w de scope for brisk speculation on the totalisator.
