GISBORNE.
An Echo of the Multiply Case — Ormoloid to be Tried Over the Big Country—The Poverty Bay Trotting Club. (From Our Own Correspondent ) GISBORNE, Saturday. Ticket holders in the Multiply dispute have given instructions to their solicitor, Mr. Burnard, to take proceedings with a view to endeavouring to secure their dividends, which they contend were wrongfully withheld from them. The latest addition to the jumping brigade is Carburetter, by Gienapp. In his first school he jumped very carefully, though a trifle slow. Gaycium, by G‘azeley, has been sent down to Hastings, where she will go into Hickey’s stable to be prepared for future events. Ngtoa, by Multifid, in A. McLeod’s stable, is rounding into a nice horse, and gives one the impression of turning out useful next season. Since his return Ormoloid has been restricted to pace work, and as soon as the schooling fences are ready W. Olive intends putting him over the big stuff. Though a bit on the small side for a steeplechaser, he is endowed with more than the average pace possessed by a number of the biggei' ones. Multishine is being hacked about by her owner, who informed me that he does not intend racing her until the spring. Player continues to please his mentor by the way he revels in his work, and providing the handicappers are not too severe on him he is sure to reward his owner with a stake or two this season.
Goldenlyte (Birkenhead —Dazzle), a full-brother to Silverlyte, is hitting out in attractive style, and promises to turn out a very useful three-year-old next season.
I understand the Gisborne Racing Club intend devoting all their first day’s profits of their forthcoming winter meeting to the Belgian Fund. Should they do so, they will only be following in the footsteps of the Wanganui Club, and setting an example to larger clubs which are in a stronger positiom both financially and otherwise. When one comes to considei’ what Gisborne has done for the war in the way of men and money, with her limited population, she is
deserving of the warmest praise for her magnanimity. Most of the local horses that competed at Hawke’s Bay returned on Sunday and Wednesday. Amongst the number were King of Athol, Loreto, and a couple of young ones; also Master Timi and Faggot in charge of Pat Malone.
