OPERA HOUSE.

The Randell Jackson English Con cert Company are back again at the Opera House aftdr winning golden opinions for themselves in the south, and Monday’s audience gave them a right good welcome. The party supplies a wholesome admixture of music and humour. Mr. Randell Jackson’s cultured voice was heard to effect in “Shipmates o’ Mine,” and he had to give an encore to appease the applause. Miss May Windsor, who is also the accompanist, gave a clever child study, and received due recognition. Miss Florence West s numbers were delivered with much charm of voice and manner, while comedy phases were admirably represented by Mr. Herbert Winter and Mr. George Nash. The part singing of the quintette showed nerfect balance, “When Mv Ships Come Sailing Home” and “Not a Judge” serving to show them to fine advantage, and proving tbfcir ability to keep an audience diverted for the whole of the programme ■nstead of the first half. Miss Effie Fellows, a chic little comedienne, was to have made her first appearance on Monday, but, owing to the non-arrival of the Sydney boat, came on next evening with a glowing reputation to enlist public favour. A trio of jugglers, Frank, Lank and Alice, showed their expertness in handling Indian clubs, a manipulation of lighted torches being unusually effective, while they leavened up their turn with flashes of humour. Miss Ella Airlie created a most favourable impression with her playing and /singing, and had the audience with her from the start. Miss Ida Jarvis, in new sprightly numbers, and Sterling and Love, in their diverting sketch “Domestic Bliss,” added their quota to making up an evening’s amusement of a satisfactory character.
