THE FRED. BROWN BLIND CO.
There is nothing more attractive to the exterior appearance of a residence than to see the windows well fitted with Venetian or holland blinds, and the firm of Fred. Brown Blind Co. is a household word for all that stands for quality in blinds. The firm was established in 1885, and, with the progress of Auckland, it has steadily developed into one of the most progressive and up-to-date businesses of its kind. A visit to this establishment would be a revelation to those who are interested in this branch of industry. Planing and painting machines are in evidence, the painting machine being of special interest in ensuring uniformity of paint, together with a wellfinished appearance. The whole of the plant is driven by a 7% h.p. gas engine, and the scene in the factory is that of busy activity. Large stocks of well-seasoned American pine laths are kept in stock, and those who purchase Venetian blinds from the Fred. Brown Blind Co. can rely upon having only the best of material. This firm makes a specialty of the single-cord action Venetian blind. This is an ingenious design, and saves a lot of trouble and inconvenience. It is a vast improvement upon the old style of side cords, being much more convenient for the raising or lowering of the blinds. There is no class of blind making that this 'firm does not undertake. Bank and office blinds, with or without gold lettering: holland, with fancy trimmings or plain; verandah and Venetian blinds to any size are made and designed. The Fred. Brown Blind Co. have received support from our municipal authorities, the Town Hall blinds being fitted by this firm, also the Auckland Savings Bank. To those who contemplate furnishing their re sidences or business establishment with blinds, we strongly recommend the firm of Fred. Brown Blind Co. for satisfaction, both in price and quality.
An announcement is made elsewhere that a sale by public auction will be held on April 12: Rodney County, section 191 A., Parish of Oruawharo, 32 green and dry kauri trees, about 37,244 sup. feet.
