PENALTIES. Flat Races. —The winner of any flat race after the declaration of weights to carry a penalty of 101 b, and every additional race a further penalty of 61b. Horges handicapped at 8.10 or over to carry only half of the above penalty (applies to the Whangarei Meeting only). The winner of any race of £4O or upwards (outside Whangarei) after declaration of weights for First Day to carry a penalty of 71b. The winner of the Settlers’ Handicap or the Maiden Plate Handicap may be re-handicapped. NOTE.—Races First Day Nos. 4 and 6, and Second Day, Nos. 1 and 4;- are open only to horses that have been owned by bona fide residents and located continuously in any County North, of the Waitemata County three months prior to date of entry. Nos. 1,2, 3,5, 7, 8 First Day and Nos. 2,3, 5,6, 7, 8, Second Day, are Open Races. RULES AND REGULATIONS. All races to be run under the New Zealand Rules of Racing. Entries by telegram must be confirmed in writing at the earliest possible opportunity. Owners, trainers, and others are notified that entries• or acceptances must be accompanied by the necessary amount in cash. Owners are responsible for penalties. Country owners are requested to register their colours. All persons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of Scales one half-hour before the official time for starting the race. Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine, to be imposed by the Stewards, not exceeding 20sovs, to the race fund. Prior to any race the Stewards may order a parade, in front of the stand. The owner of any horse absent from such parade without the permission of the Stewards, will be fined £2.
