MOONBRIA IN AUSTRALIA.

St. Medoc, who cost Mr. “J. Bird” 900 guineas the first week in January, scored his first victory since his pur-

chase by that owner at 'Sydney Tattersall’s meeting last month. This was in the Club Welter, in which he just squeezed home from Moonbria, son of Merriwee and La Notte, therefore something more than a halfbrother to Midnight Sun, Noctuiform and Nightfall. The Sydney “Referee” writer “Pilot” thus refers to the event: —Moonbria, who was last shortly after barrier-rise, ran a great race, and was probably unlucky to lose; but though his backers had a second go for their money when a protest was lodged, it did not surprise me when they failed to score in that fashion. Black, on St. Medoc, may not have given Moonbria more room than was necessary, but it cannot be said that he appeared to absolutely interfere with that horse. THE ONE THOUSAND GUINEAS. The Two Thousand Guineas won by Kennymore was referred to in these columns last week. For some unexplained reason the result of the One Thousand Guineas did not come to hand at due date, so therefore we could not refer thereto before. Mr. J. B. Joel’s filly Princess Dorrie, by Your Majesty from Doris was a very un-

lucky filly last year, as she was second five times and third twice out of eight starts. The Tetrarch was one she met, however. Glorvina proved superior to her in the Mersey Stakes at Liverpool, and also won another race, and Torchlight, who finished third, was also a winner last season. Princess Dorrie having turned the tables on Glorvina, interest will now centre on their meeting in the Oaks and other events.
