HEALTHY PUBLIC OPINION : ’ WANTED. In England ‘ they have a “True Temperance Association,” which aims at the creation of a healthy and reasonable public opinion on the subject of temperance in drinking, at the extermination of drunkenness, the absolute wholesomeness of all beverages, and the development of the public-house in making it in the best sense a place for the presentday social needs of the people. The Association has just issued its True Temperance Annual, 1913, wherein the editor has written and collated a mass of information which illus- • trates the policy of the Association - and applies it to the conditions which ft. is designed" "to remedy and ameliorate. In this Annual Brewster reports are quoted as shewing that enlighted .benches have refuted the baseless accusation and supported the .conclusion arrived at that “so far from licensed victuallers, as a body, being open to .<t£e charge, they are often the most practical helpers in the fight against drunkenness.”
