OPERA HOUSE.
The high standard of vaudeville entertainment established at the Opera House by the Brennan-Fuller proprietary is well maintained this week and the present bill of fare includes several excellent turns. First and foremost is the exhibition of wire walking by Paul Gordon who does some amazing feats. His exhibition in “The Drunk on the Wire” must be seen to be believed and it is wonderful to see Gordon moving about on the wire with as much ease as he would walk the streets. He runs, dances, climbs ladders, in fact does almost anything on the wire. Fred Curran, an English character comedian, made his first appearance and at once established himself in the good books of the audience. He has a good style and voice and sings well selected songs. Austin and Cowan, sketch artistes, also appear this week for the first time and contribute humorous sketches which elicit hearty laughter. La France, a versatile lady, impersonated many of the world’s well-known artistes and also contributed a further series of art visions. Hassan, the magician, performed many good tricks which mystified the audience and also introduced the thumb-tie trick which by the way, is being well exploited lately. The Punchinellos again provide the first part of the entertainment with bright and fresh items, each number being heartily applauded. The programme taken all round, is a particularly good one, and a visit to the Opera House this week is recommended.
