QUEEN’S THEATRE.

“The Talisman” proved a big attraction at Queen’s Theatre on Monday, Sir Walter Scott’s stirring ’ novel losing nothing of its sensations in its pictorial reproduction. It was a real masterpiece, and was magnificently interpreted. Some capital scenic views were shown in “ The Highways of England,” and attracted warm admiration. “Golden Hair” told a pretty story of a girl’s love and a dowry, while “Dodging the Sheriff” was a comedy-drama that dealt with the fortunes of a young man in an amusing manner. Patrons can always be sure of a well-varied programme at the Queen’s, which accounts for the appreciative audiences day and night. To-day’s programme should be particularly interesting. “The Colleen Bawn,” that popular Irish drama, will be the principal feature, while following it closely will be a revival of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” which created such a sensation at the Queen’s a short time back.
