QUEEN’S THEATRE.
Rider Haggard’s mysterious romance “She” was responsible for another boom at Queen’s Theatre on Monday, the various enthralling situations in the African story and the fascinations of the perennially youthful “She” being portrayed with realism and attracting keen attention. “Trout Fishing in Surrey” was a very fine series, as instructive as it was interesting. “Her Face” and “The Police Sergeant” provided two good dramas, the latter striking a powerful note of human pathos, while nothing could have been more diverting than “Constable Smith in Command” for a touch of humour. A tuneful orchestra supplies the incidental music.
To-day (Thursday) a feature of the programme will be “East Lynne,” a story that never fails to appeal; It has been called a woman’s drama, and with splendid projection and an exceptionally fine set of films, its pictorial representation is . guaranteed to ■ make the tears flow as copiously as tradition requires. Country visitors in town for the competitions can spend a pleasant half hour or so here..
