WANGANUI JUMPING MEETING.

The Wanganui Jockey Club are to be heartily congratulated on the success of their winter meeting last week. The big West Coast jumping fixture now ranks as one of the most important events in the New Zealand racing calendar and is, year by year, attracting the best of the jumping brigade, so that the Wanganui meeting has now come to be regarded as affording students of form with an index to the winter racing throughout the Dominion. This year the sport on the first day was somewhat marred by the wretched weather experienced, but despite the heavy rains the course was in good order for racing. In this respect Wanganui is particularly lucky, as the sand foundation of the track does not allow the rain to interfere with the running to anything like the same extent as would be the case with most other racecourses in the Dominion. The officials and stewards of the club are fully alive to the growing importance of their early winter meeting, and the way in which they cater for the public is to be heartily commended.
