A NOTABLE PERFORMER ON THE ENGLISH TURF—Sir Geo. Murray’s ch h BACHELOR’S DOUBLE, by Tredennis- —Lady Bawn. This horse was bred in Ireland in 1906 by Mr. J. Lowry, and only ran twice as a two-year-old, winning a valuable juvenile race at Leopardstown and another at the Curragh. As a three-year-old he secured the Irish Derby and two other events in that country, his first defeat being sustained when he was sent to Doncaster for the St. Leger, and made a very poor show behind Bayardo. He began his next season by a very unexpected victory in the City and Suburban, and was soon afterwards sold. to the late Mr. W. W. Bailey, for whom he secured the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot and a valuable race at Liverpool. On the death of Mr. Bailey he became the property of Sir George Murray, and won the Jubilee Handicap of 1911 in a canter. Has now been sent to the stud.
