Maori King, who holds the position of first favouiite for the Easter Handicap, arrived at Ellerslie this week from Hawke’s Bay. The Merriwee horse is looking in very fine fettle.
Reviewing English racing for the past season the “Irish Field” says: —“Lord Derby’s winning total of £42,271 is the largest amassed by an English owner since the late Duke of Westminster topped the list in 1899 with £43,965. In France Mr W. K. Vanderbilt heads the winning owners for the fourth year in succession with £27,161.”
