TURF RESULTS.

EGMONT RACING CLUB. FIRST DAY. BRONZE WINS THE CUP. ANOTHER DOUBLE FOR BLACK NORTHERN. The Egmont Racing Club held a most successful two-days’ meeting last week. iThe weather for both days was splendid and the attendances >arge. The racing throughout was excellent and several splendid finishes added greatly to the enjoyment of the most successful meeting yet held by the club. The totalisator investments for the first day amounted to " £11,907, while on the second day £13,257 was handled, making an aggregate for the meeting of £25,164, against £21,669 for the summer gathering of 1911, an increase of £3495 on last year’s figures Details of the results were as follows:—

At the stand Meremere was leading from Royal Arms, Jargon, Bronze and Kauroa, practically the same order being preserved along" the back. With half a mile to go, Bronze and Kauroa had headed Jargon, the order of the leaders as the field turned for home being Meremere, Royal Arms. Kauroa and Bronze. The weather was fine both days and the attendances large. The course and surroundings were at their best, while the general management left nothing to be ■desired. The sport was good and some of the events provided close finishes. Last Thursday the Te Kuiti RacingClub held the first registered race meeting in the King -Country with a totalisator permit, and the gathering proved a most encouraging augury for the future of racing- in the fast-growing district, of which Te Kuiti is the flourishing centre. The course secured by the club is particularly. well situated, and is capable of being made one of the finest racecourses in the Dominion, as the track is a full mile in length, quite flat and well laid out. while the surroundings are very pleasing. The club will doubtless realise a fair profit on their meeting and possibly by next year the appointments will be -considerably improved. -There can. be no question that -the Te Kuiti (people are a most enterprisingcommunity, where goodfellowship and the best sporting instinct prevail. Everything, therefore, points to a bright future being in store for racing in the King Country. The totalisator returns for the day were excellent for a. country club, as no less a sum. than £5432 was passed through the machine.
