“SERGEANT BRUE.”
A highly amusing musical farce entitled, “Sergeant Brue” succeeds “The Gay Gordons” next week, when the company will be seen in an entirely different production to that savoring of the Highlands. The music is sparklijng and-- • bright, and the dialogue smart. The story, which revolves round a member of the London police force, is cleverly developed, and the fun waxes fast and furious right through. Sergeant Brue has some astonishing adventures. He is left a fortune of £10,00.0 a year on condition that he becomes an inspector in the force. His schemes to bring about the desired promotion make up the story, and give ample scope for entertainment.
This is the last company of Clarke and Meynell’s under the old separate management, and as they have always
served us with the best, theatre-goers can rely on a good evening’s amusement in their farewell production.
