SOUTHERN STAGE NOTES.

WELLINGTON.

(By

“Lorgnette.”)

WELLINGTON. October 30.

The Wellington season of “Our Miss Gibbs” was brought to a close last ; Wednesday evening, when the Opera House was packed to the' door with an audience that was just as enthusiastic as the opening one.

> According to a Southern paper the -Fullers have decided to relinquish Vaudeville in Dunedin for a time.

They will-give picture shows at both the King’s and the Princess. This .looks as if a lot of vaudevillians will have shortly to look for work.

' Mr. Claude E. Webb arrived in town last Wednesday evening and lost no time in getting the town billed with some most effective printing, announcing the fact that J. C. Williamson will introduce to Wellington “The Woman in the Case” Company at the Opera House on Friday night. The season will extend from the 3rd until the 16th.

The Fullers have got two good “turns’ showing at the Theatre Royal this week in Millie Doris, and M. Gee and Reece. The Tossing Testros are also in the bill.

My word the picture shows are going great guns just now, with “star” picture films. This week’s programir> include “All For Gold” at the King’s and St. Thomas’ Hall; “Zigomar” at His Majesty’s and the Star; “La Favourita” at 'the Bijou, and “Othello” at the New.

Mr. Marcus is expected to arrive in town in a few days to arrange preliminaries for the opening of the Harry Rickards’ Vaudeville Company at the Opera House on December 2nd.

Mr. Bert Boyle is expected to arrive back in Wellington on Wednesday by the Moeraki. J. C. Williamson will have, I understand, thr.ee attractions in New Zealand at Christmas. Auckland will have either “The Balkan Princess” or "The Speckled Band”; Wellington, H. B. Irving and Co.; Dunedin, “The Chocolate Soldier.” At the close of the Wellington season, “The Woman in the Case” Company will visit Palmerston, Wanganui, and New Plymouth, after which the South Island will be toured.
