NORTHERN UNION GAME.

The Northern League have arranged a series of Cup matches between the four teams now playing that game here (writes our Wanganui Correspondent), and the first of these was played on Saturday, when St. Johns beat Eastern by 22 points to 12. A pleasing feature of the game was the excellent form shown by several of the younger players, who give promise of developing into top notchers.

The Auckland Rugby League brought off the final match for the club championship a t Eden Park on Saturday, the teams engaged being City and Ponsonby. The game resulted in an easy victory for City by 36 points to 15, the final score coming a surprise to those who had assembled in the expectation of witnessing a close and exciting game. Asher played a great game for City, and during the second spell scored one of his sensational tries amid loud cheering. A feature of the match was the splendid goal kicking on both sides, Asher (City) and Cole (Ponsonby) being in fine form. For City tries were scored by Mitchell (2), Rukutai (2), Stannaway, Asher, Moaki, and Hunt, six of which were converted by A. Asher. For Ponsonby tries were obtained by Dunning (2), and Wilson, all three of which were converted by Cole.
