VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB’S MEETING. The V.A.T.C. opened their August meeting at Caulfield on Saturday. Excepting Steam displacing Bribery in second place, there was little change till after passing- the judge’s box the second time The pace quickened along the back, where Minato still led from Obi and Yarrabar. with Flash Jack and Arquel uso handv. Minato fell back at the turn, and Obi took command. The last fence, however, beat Obi. and a fall on -his part , left‘Arquebuse with the lead, with Minato. Flash Jack and Battery his closest attendants. In a good finish Arquebuse kept the opposition at bay, and he had ■i .nock the best of it when the post was reached.
