In time of severe drought a harassed amateur agriculturist went to an optician’s to buy a barometer, and the shopman was giving him a few stereotyped instructions as. to the use of the instrument, when the purchaser impatiently interrupted him. “Yes, yes,” said he, “that’s all right, but what I want to know is, how do you set the thing when you want it to rain?”
