TIVOLI THEATRE.

Vaudeville is having a run at the Tivoli Theatre at Newton for the present, a short season being inaugurated on Saturday evening under most favourable auspices by Dayne’s Mammoth Minstrels and Vaudeville Company- The company consists of 25 performers, and some marked ability is displayed. Hal Dayne proved his title as a monologue entertainer, and in his vocal, instrumental or comic items he was inimitable, and met with hearty applause. Will Walker brought down the house with his comic selections, another prime favourite being Curtis Clifford, who gave a clever exhibition of step-dancing. Merlin was responsible for some smart conjuring tricks, Reg. Sullivan for a cake walk and sailor’s hornpipe, while vocal items were pleasingly given by Miss Aloys Dayne, Miss Margaret Moody, the McDonald Sis+ers and Signor Spartelli. the Alberta quartette also coming in for special mention. A few interesting pictures form part of the entertainment. Altogether it is a first-class diversified programme, and Dayne’s minstrels should easily fill the Tivoli.
