TURF RESULTS.

HAWKE’S BAY J.C. AUTUMN MEETING. FIRST DAY. BRIDGE WINS THE CUP. The weather, although chilly and overcast, with a few showers, kept fairly fine for the autumn meeting of the Hawkes Bay Jockey Club, which opened on the Hastings racecourse on Wednesday. There was a large attendance of sporting enthusiasts present from various parts of the Dominion, the large fields engaged in the different events being no doubt responsible for the crowd of spectators. Speculation per medium of the totalisator disclosed the fact that the sum of £6631 10s had found its way through the machine as a result of the afternoon’s racing, compared with £9586 handled on the corresponding day last year. SECOND DAY. BOANERGES WINS THE STAKES.. The meeting was brought to a conclusion in delightful weather. There was again a good attendance, which, however, was not quite so large as on the opening day. Some excellent racing took place, and sporting critics classed the gathering as a very successful one. Speculation ner medium of the totcblisator showed that the sum of £7609 had found its way through the machine, compared witn £10,007 dealt with on the corresponding day of last year, making an aggregate for the fixture of £14,241 against £19,593 handled at last year’s autumn meeting. Fees from the bookmakers for the privilege of betting on both days amounted to £678 10s, against £615 the metallicians con tributed at last year’s fixture.
