Signorina Maria Pampari. a young Italian artiste, was to have made her debut at the Sydney Theatre Royal as Mimi in “La Boheme” on April 23 which she has already sung in Vienna. John Zerga, who sang the tenor part on that occasion, was to have been the Rudolph of the first night cast. Signorina Pampari made a successful appearance at La Scala, Milan, before she was 20, and of her Mimi, a Vienna scribe wrote:—“Her voice has power. while temperamental warmth infuses into her vocalism rare feeling.” Miss Mabel Batchelor, another of the Australian artistes who will grace this season, will be the Musette of one of the casts.
