A difficulty has arisen in no-license districts with regard to the housing of bodies pending inquests. In license areas the Act provides that the owners of licensed houses must receive dead bodies, and a specific payment is allowed. The provision does not apply to no-libense districts, and the owners of houses which were previously licensed /cannot now recover the specified amount. The question has been raised in Ashburton whether it will be right to hold the owners of nolicense .hotels responsible if they refuse to' receive bodies awaiting inquest.
