AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB’S SUMMER MEETING.

OPENS ON TUESDAY. On Tuesday next the Auckland Trotting Club will inaugurate their summer meeting at Alexandra Park, and, with fine weather, a record meeting can safely be anticipated. Nothing is appreciated more by the sporting fraternity than a good trotting race, and as there are a number of ’horses from South engaged in the various events, we should have the pleasure of witnessing a capital trotting programme. The principal event is the Auckland Trotting Cup of two miles, and with all those horses credited with being able to trot, engaged, a capital content seems certain to eventuate. The favourite selections are Woodbury, Conqueror, Rothschild Junr., and Havoc, all of whom are Southern-owned horses. Havoc, by the way, only started three times last season, and came home in front each time. The other events are well filled, and with the arrangements well in hand and the obliging secretary (Mr. C. F. Mark) on the spot, the meeting should be the most successful yet held in Auckland. The second and third day’s facing will take place on December 31 and January 8.
