ROYAL ALBERT HALL.
PATHE PICTURES
Despite the inclement weather of the last week, the Pathe Pictures at the Royal Albert Hall have been drawing good houses. The usual weekly change of programme took place last evening, and it must be admitted that the entertainment provided leaves nothing to be desired. Last week the change took place on Tuesday evening, while this week the change was made on Wednesday. It is a pity the alteration is not made on the same evening of each week, as the present order of things lead those patrons who are ignorant of when the change takes place, to disappointment. However, the programmes so far provided by Messrs. Hayward Brothers would easily stand witnessing a second time, the present one being no exception. Last evening, “ Pastures in the Provinces,” “ Picturesque Ancona,” “Zambesi Falls,” and “Venice from a Gondola,” all scenic films, were highly appreciated, and depict some of the world’s most beautiful scenery. The dramatic portion of the evening is provided in “ The Little Flower Seller,” “ A Gentleman’s Son,” “ The Old Shepherd,” and “ The Vendean.” A trick film, called “ Parisian Life in Miniature,” called forth applause, and much merriment was caused by films entitled “ The House Dog,” “ A Bird of Freedom,” “ Too Busy to Court,” and “ Detectives Fritt and Plott.” What should prove a great draw
and at the same time highly interesting, will be a “ Beauty Competition,” to be included in the programme in the course of a week or so. Those ladies wishing to compete in the competition will be requested to send their photographs to the manager, when they will be numbered and shown on t'be screen. The audience will judge the competition, and each person will be provided with a voting paper, upon which he or she will mark the number of the photograph adjudged the best looking.
