A Press Association message from Taihape records the death at that township of Mr. Frank Gibbons, proprietor of the Gretna Hotel. Mr. Gibbons who was thirty-nine years of age, was the eldest son of the late Mr. S. Gibbons, for many years proprietor of the White Hart Hotel, Marton. Mr. Frank Gibbons was formerly well-known in sporting circles, especially at Hunt Club contests, in several of which he rode his own horse Seddon to victory. For some years past he had resided at Taihape as licensee of the Gretna Hotel, the freehold of which he purchased some time ago. The deceased, who was a brother of Mr. S. J. Gibbons (who races under the name of “Mr. F. Preston”), was a member of the Taihape Borough Council and treasurer of the local Masonic lodge.
