The season at His Alajesty’s of the Bland Holt Company came to a close on Saturday, the final production of “ The Flood Tide ” being greeted by a tremendous audience. All the artists came in for enthusiastic applause, and floral offerings were numerous. The company sailed for Sydney by the s.s. Alokoia on Alonday. a very large number of friends going down to the wharf to say farewell. It is Mr. Holt’s intendion to torr the Dominion again n two years time.

Steps are being taken by the Board of Public Health in Ale.bourne to minimise the danger of celluloid cinematograph films becoming ignited. DrNorris, the chairman of the Board, has stated that the disastrous fire caused at a theatre in Alexico by cinematograph films catching fire empha-si-ed the need for action. The Board is at prese.it consulting the Crown sol ciior, with a view to flaming a regulation. An endeavour is being made to introduce a clause in the regu ations providing that the cinematograph apparatus should be mounted outside the enterta nment hall where possible. The danger of the films igniting is greatly minimised when electric light is used instead of limelight. Owing to the continued success of “ Jack and J 11,” the farewell Melbourne season of Aliss Brune has been postponed, and, pending her opening in Alelibourne. she will give a short season n Adelaide. -k * * * Mr. Frank Levy, advance manager for the Aleynell and Gunn Company, leaves for Gisborne on Saturday.

Alice Pollard is under a three years’ engagement with Air. George. Edwardes, and is playing in the new mudical comedy. “ The Dollar Princess.” Nellie Wilson is at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Charles Carter is at Covent Garden. Aland Beatty is at the American Theatre, Sari Francisco. Wilmot Karkeek is in India. Zoe Karkeek is in South Africa. . Willy Percy and Dave O’Connor are with the Royal Comics. Eddy Nable is holding his own with “ The Red Alill ” Cdinpany. So that “-graduates ” from the “ Pollard School ” are scattered over rnany countries.
